RESSICHEM MICRO TOPPING SYSTEM
Ressichem Micro-topping System is a two-component system composed of a polymer mixed with a special cement mixture. The cement mixture is provided in two versions:
RESSI BASE COAT
This Ressi Base Coat uses the 0.5 millimeters coarse sand as a gauge to ensure the correct thickness is applied.
RESSI TOPCOAT
Ressi Topcoat is the same formula only without the coarse sand, giving a smooth appearance.
Depending on the surface profile and the degree of finishing required, it is possible to use one or more coats of both products.
PREPARATION OF THE SURFACE
The surface is treated differently depending on whether the existing substrate is concrete, sand-cement screed, ceramic or a self-leveling surface. The floor may be shot-blasted, diamond ground or treated with a special acid-based gel that removes the weaker layer of the concrete surface to ensure complete adhesion to a sound substrate. Damaged concrete or cracks need to be repaired prior to Micro-topping being applied. Ressichem Repair mortars, crack fillers and epoxies are used for such repairs.
NOTE
If there are areas with the presence of hydraulic fluids, cutting oils or other materials suspected of migration, they should be properly treated. If there is no guarantee that you will get a suitable surface, it is recommended not to proceed with the application of the product.
DOSAGE AND CONSUMPTION
Base Coat: Polymer 0.425 -0.34 Lt\m²
Micro topping BC 1.25 – 1.00 Kg\m²
To achieve the best performance of the Micro-topping System we suggest applying 2 coats of Base coat.
Topcoat: Polymer 0.12 - 0.10 Lt\m²
Micro topping TC 0.25 - 0.20 Kg\m²
Consumption may vary depending on the existing support and the desired finish.
COLOR
Ressichem Micro-topping System BC and TC are supplied in two standard colors: grey and white. To get more colors, the liquid polymer Ressi Reactive Stain can be added during the mixing phase.
Ressi Reactive Stain is a water-based paint made from UV stable pigments designed for use with Ressichem Micro-topping System. Thanks to its dispersant action, Ressi Reactive Stain can create a uniform color.
Ressi Reactive Stain is available in many different colors. The intensity and hue will vary depending on the amount of product diluted in the polymer and the type (white or grey) of Micro-topping used.
APPLICATION
The temperature before any mixture and laying of the material should be between 10°C and 28°C. Do not use in the case of extreme temperatures or in windy conditions.
APPLICATION OF MICRO-TOPPING BC(BASE COAT)
The liquid polymer is to be kept in a cool place before and during use. It is important to mix the polymer 3 minutes before use.
Pour half the contents of the polymer into another clean bucket.
Once the liquid polymer has been completely mixed, slowly add a jar of Micro-topping System BC into each of the buckets, mixing for about 2 minutes to remove lumps or dry spots.
Once all the materials are properly mixed, apply the mixture in 25 - 30 minutes at temperatures averaging about 20°C. Distribute the first coat on the surface prepared with a Magic or steel trowel. The material should be shaved up to a maximum thickness of 1.5mm. It is important that the thickness should not exceed the size of the aggregates in the cement mixture. Let the surface dry or mature until it is walked on. If the existing surface is very worn, to achieve the best performance of the system, a second application of Micro-topping System BC is recommended. Between each coat the surface must be properly sanded. It is recommended to wear shoes during the cover installation and sanding to avoid soiling the surface. For large floors it is advisable to use a single brush with sandpaper or a grit sandpaper disc. When finished, you should vacuum the dust and wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
APPLICATION OF MICRO-TOPPING TC(TOPCOAT)
The polymer liquid is to be kept in a cool place before and during use. It is important to mix the polymer for 3 minutes before use.
Put half the polymer contents into another clean bucket.
Once the polymer has been completely mixed, slowly add a jar of Micro-topping FC into each of the buckets, mixing for about 2 minutes to remove lumps or dry spots.
Once all materials are properly mixed, apply the mixture in 25 - 30 minutes at temperatures averaging about 20°C. Micro-topping System FC should be applied only with a steel trowel.
Micro-topping FC is a product specially formulated to finish; because of this, it must be applied in very thin layers. The trowel should be used at 45°, as in the application of Venetian Plaster. After that it is necessary to let the surface dry or mature until it is walked on.
When the Micro-topping System is dry, the floor will need to be sanded using between 60 to 200 grit sanding screens rather than paper, in order to remove any burrs.
When finished, you should vacuum the dust and wipe the surface with a damp cloth. It is recommended to wear shoes during cover installation and sanding to avoid soiling the surface.
A second application of Micro-topping System FC is required if you want to get a smoother surface or if you want to create a cloud effect.
An appropriate sealer from the Ressichem range can also be applied to give an appropriate finish to the floor.
DOSAGE
One package of Ressi reactive stain should be mixed in a box of liquid polymer (20L). If different shades of color are required, add smaller quantities of Ressi Reactive Stain to the liquid polymer. In this case, especially for large jobs, you will need to pay close attention to the dilution ratio chosen.
Note: We recommend coloring the amount of polymer needed to implement the work before you start mixing the cement bases (Micro-topping System BC and TC) in order to obtain uniform color throughout the floor.
MATURATION
Once the application is completed, leave the surface to mature for a period of 04-08 hours between applications and for 24 hours before allowing foot traffic.
COATING
Once the Micro-topping System is cured, the application of a protective sealer or coating is recommended.
The type of sealer should be chosen according to the amount of traffic and the environment. A wide range of Ressichem sealers are available for this purpose. These products are applied by short pile rollers, sprayers, or wax spreaders.
Micro-topping System is outstanding for its attractiveness in addition to its strength and the fact that it is quick and easy to apply, maintain and clean.
Micro-topping System is not just a decorative product. It can also be successfully used in an industrial environment. It has excellent resistance to UV rays and to climatic stress, plus high resistance to even intense traffic, making it suitable for protecting horizontal or vertical concrete surfaces exposed to vehicular traffic or the elements.
MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT: Micro-topping floors are considered decorative flooring, so you will have to pay particular attention to their maintenance:
• Wash the floor with a neutral ph.
• Do not under any circumstances use corrosive products.

Ressichem Micro-topping System BC and TC are distributed in packs of 20 kg
Ressi Polymer is distributed in packs of 1, 5, 10, 15 and 25 Ltrs.
STORAGE
Store in a cool and safe at a temperature of 15 - 20°C.
Keep containers tightly sealed. The shelf life of the polymer is at least 12 months and the duration of Micro-topping System FC and TC is 6-8 months.
